Alina Ioana Georgescu is an experienced investment professional with nearly a decade in venture capital, actively involved in sourcing, executing, and managing investments across Romania and Central and Eastern Europe. At Catalyst Romania, she has been directly engaged with over ten portfolio companies as Board Member or Board Observer, contributing to strategic, governance, and operational decisions.

Her expertise spans the full investment cycle, from deal sourcing and due diligence to structuring, closing, and post-investment value creation in collaboration with founders. Alina has played a key role in several notable exits, including Green Horse Games (acquired by Tencent/Miniclip), Smartbill (acquired by Visma), and 123FormBuilder (acquired by Kiteworks). She also contributes to fundraising and investor relations for Catalyst Romania Fund II (€50m), working closely with limited partners and supporting strategic positioning.

Before joining Catalyst Romania, Alina was an entrepreneur and co-founded several companies, two of which achieved successful exits. This hands-on entrepreneurial background gives her a practical and empathetic perspective when working with founders in high-growth environments.

Beyond her investment activities, Alina is a frequent speaker, mentor, and juror at industry events, accelerators, and incubators, actively supporting the growth of the regional start-up ecosystem.

She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, where she studied in the German-taught program, and has completed multiple executive courses in communication, entrepreneurship, private equity, and project management.
