Corina Murafa is leading Ashoka’s flagship global initiative on climate, Next Now/Planet & Climate, and is also the Director of Ashoka Romania. Ashoka is the largest global network that supports social entrepreneurs and has been present in over 90 countries for 40 years. Prior to joining Ashoka, she advanced long-lasting positive change in Eastern Europe as a public policy expert on energy and sustainability.
She has worked for the World Bank, OMV Petrom, Deloitte, national governments, and think tanks. She holds a Ph.D. in Economic Studies from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, with a thesis focused on financial instruments for advancing the sustainability of the European energy sector and a Master in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. She’s a Member of the Board of Advisors of Energy Policy Group, a member of the Hertie Energy and Environment Network, and an associate member of the Center for Democracy Studies from the Bases Bolyai University. Corina is a regular lecturer for various audiences on energy policy, climate and sustainability, energy policy, social innovation, social entrepreneurship, and the social impact of corporate actors.
